“I’m Not Built to Lose”: Brandon Miller Responds to Paul George’s Comments

July 30, 2025 | By Almondoh Joi – ESPN

Following viral headlines where Paul George reportedly labeled the Charlotte Hornets as having “the NBA’s worst culture,” one voice from within the organization didn’t back down — Brandon Miller.

The third-year star and new face of the franchise, who has quietly embraced a Michael Jordan–like mindset, was asked about George’s remarks during post-practice media availability.

His response?

🔥 “He’s right about one thing — we’ve been losing. But that stops now. I’m not built to lose.”

Miller Continues:

“Paul’s a legend. I’ve got respect for what he’s done. But we’re not the same. I’m not here to be buddy-buddy with guys who throw shade from the outside.”

“You can call us losers now, but don’t blink. ‘Cause we’re coming. And when we do, I don’t want apologies — just remember who doubted us.”

🧠

The MJ Mindset

Miller’s competitive edge has grown noticeably sharper since the Hornets handed him the keys this offseason. According to teammates and staff, he’s been:

  • Calling out teammates during film sessions

  • Leading conditioning drills unprompted

  • Studying past greats like Kobe, KD, and yes — Michael Jordan

  • Posting up 6 a.m. solo workouts even during off days

One Hornets coach quietly told ESPN:

“Brandon isn’t just trying to win. He’s trying to bury people. That’s new for us.”

📉

Paul George’s Quote That Sparked It All

In a recent podcast clip circulating on social media, George allegedly said:

“I look at Charlotte and I just don’t see winners. No urgency, no accountability. Just vibes. That ain’t culture — that’s cruise control.”

🔥

Brandon’s Final Word

“People forget — Mike (Jordan) used to get clowned for not winning, too. Then he flipped the script. That’s my blueprint. Period.”

🧠 Almondoh’s Final Take:

Brandon Miller isn’t just leading the Hornets — he’s trying to reshape their DNA. And if he’s taking this Paul George comment personally?

The league better circle Charlotte on the calendar.
